So we have a friend who's not seen a lot of 80's classics and so we're going to show him a movie Friday night.
We need an 80's flick with a great soundtrack. Blockbusters are actually better than lesser knowns.

Leading the polls so far are:

    Ferris Bueller
    Beverly Hills Cop

    What else you got?

    Back to the Future

Edited to add: er... not sure about the soundtrack. Just saw "80s movie" and got enthused about Back to the Future.

Truth. Although everyone should see the Morris Day and The Time performance at least once.

Cannot match songs to films and even less place them on a timeline - but here is a list of films of the 80's that can refresh some memories.

It sucks that the only Purple Rain versions of it on Youtube have had the audio stripped, but luckily the Jay and Silent Bob version is plentiful.

There was also a totally sick blog entry on the internet a couple of weeks ago that had tons of ancient videos of Prince and the Revolution practicing and it was WICKED GOOD and it was pulled from the internet WICKED FAST.

Speaking of the Brat Pack, Darren Hayman's "Songs for Harmonium and Drum Machine" EP is pretty fun in an uberhipster kind of way.

    Side A
    1. Andrew McCarthey
    2. Judd Nelson

    Side B
    1. Emilio Estevez
    2. Ally Sheedy

"Judd Nelson" is probably my favorite.

If you need to use up 4 credits on eMusic, there are worse ways to spend it.

I think 80's movies, I think Sixteen Candles (fail on the no brat pack side, but great soundtrack). Real Genius is usually a close second. LOVE that movie.
